Because of the huge The Le Tour Revenge success in 2019, Struer and f Sports Group decided to repeat the race in 2021. It was supposed to take place in August 2020 but due to the Covid-19 restrictions the race had to be postponed.
On Wednesday 4th of August 2021 all the excited cycling fans finally got heir long awaited expectations fulfilled when the Danish Tour de France riders, and all the amateur riders filled the streets of Struer, The City of Sound, with world-class cycling. In front of the Peloton was: Jakob Fuglsang (Astana), Soren Kragh Andersen (Team DSM), defending champion Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck Quick-Step), Michael Valgren (EF Education-Nippo) and Denmark’s 2021 Tour de France star, Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma).
The thousands of spectators who showed up to celebrate all the Danish riders were especially excited to see one of the riders, Jonas Vingegaard. The Danish Jumbo-Visma rider made a name for himself at this year’s Tour de France, where he ended on the podium with a historic 2nd place in the prestigious race – and his first ever Tour de France.
Although many people had Jonas Vingegaard as their favourite to win the race in Struer, defending champion and local star Kasper Asgreen showed his worth once again and took home the 1st place. The Le Tour Revenge 2021 was just as big a success as it was in 2019 and all the spectators and sponsors really got the opportunity to celebrate the riders on the first row. While waiting for the race to start, all the people who showed up could enjoy themselves with music, interviews on the stage with the riders and delicious food and beverages.
VOLUNTEERS AND PARTNERS
Once again, we were lucky to have fantastic volunteers involved from the local cycling clubs; Struer Cycling Club and Holstebro Cykle Club. The race wouldn’t be possible either without the support from Struer Municipality and our amazing partners:
- BYGMA
- dao
- Struer Energi
TV BROADCASTING
Once again Struer Municipality and f Sports Group partnered up with the TV-channel Kanal5 and streaming service Discovery+, so all the Danish cycling fans who couldn’t make it to Struer had the opportunity to watch the race from home. This resulted in massive exposure for the sponsors and boosted the value of the sponsorships.
